NBA 2K22 Goes Into Detail About New PS5 and PS4 Features

In the NBA today, everything is on the line as the Bucks compete for a championship and the Suns attempt to force a Game 7 between the two teams. In fact, the first Courtside Report on NBA 2K22, which teases the first batch of features, is arguably even more exciting than the rest. As was the case last year, both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions of the game will be essentially different games – but 2K Sports isn't skimping on features regardless of which system you own.

For the time being, the publisher is remaining mum on the specifics of the on-court gameplay experience. It is expected that the developer will place a greater emphasis on stick skills and signature talent in order to make the best plays truly stand out. On defense, the game's best players will benefit from a redesigned shot contest and blocking system, which will allow them to dominate both on the perimeter and in the paint.

For the time being, however, it is the window dressing that is getting the most attention. The traditional MyCareer mode will be integrated into a completely reimagined City on the PlayStation 5, which means you'll be interacting with NPCs and exploring all of the locations as you continue your journey through the NBA. There will also be matchmaking – at long last! – across a number of different modes.

Moreover, it appears that the game will delve deeper into the culture of basketball and the concept of what it means to be a star player. Because of this, you will be able to “get involved in the hip-hop business, where your musical talent opens up an intriguing lane in the industry,” or even become a fashion mogul. Meanwhile, on the PlayStation 4, the Neighborhood has been reimagined as a cruise ship that will make regular stops at locations for special occasions. To be fair, both of these sound really cool.

A new Draft mode will be available in MyTeam, allowing you to select players from a pool of players that is constantly being updated and then put them on the court to battle it out. As previously stated, Seasons will be expanded to include both MyCareer and The W for the first time, allowing you to unlock more content and rewards than ever before – this will likely result in a longer grind, but from where we sit, this makes perfect sense.

Meanwhile,NBA 2K22 MyNBA mode imrovements, the existing staff system in MyNBA Franchise mode appears to be being improved by 2K Sports, allowing you to spend more time managing the coaches and scouts that you employ to build your dynastic franchise. There's a lot to look forward to, and the publisher has promised that this is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what's to come in this year's game. There goes another 150 hours of my life...
